Ramen-ya or ramen shops have sprouted like mushrooms all over the metro. But if you could visit just one place for your authentic ramen fix, Ramen Bar in Eastwood City should be it!

I’ve been to a lot of ramen-ya in Tokyo, so believe me when I say that Ramen Bar is one of the best places in Manila that serve the popular Japanese noodle dish.

Upon entering the shop, I immediately noticed its relaxing and cushy ambience. But what really caught my attention was the red wall with the restaurant logo painted in white.

The entire place was impeccably clean, except for the rest room.
It can accommodate up to 50 diners with their long wooden tables and director-style timber chairs.

I ordered Super Chasyu Ramen and Shoyu Ramen for everyone at my table. Aside from the ramen specials, I also ordered other Japanese favorites like Gyoza, Karaage and Yakiniku Beef Rice Topping.

Super Chasyu Ramen (Php 380). Soy infused Tonkotsu Ramen topped with over-flowing slices of chasyu and tamago

Shoyu Ramen (Php 280). Soy infused Tonkotsu Ramen topped with tamago, naruto, negi and chasyu

Fried Gyoza (Php 150 / 5 pcs)

Karaage (Php 155)

Yakiniku Beef Rice Topping (Php 165)

Verdict:
- Ramen was superbly OISHI!!!
- Karaage was too salty
- Gyoza was plain
- Yakiniku was delicious; seasoned perfectly
Inspired by the fish and chips (Brits call fries “chips”) shops found on the streets of London, Chuck’s Grub is the first traditional fish and chips stall to hit the metro, with two branches located at the Powerplant Mall in Makati City and TriNoma Mall in Quezon City.

Chuck’s Grub Trinoma, 2nd floor Food Choices, Tel 507-0005. This branch is only 1-month old. Opened in April 2012.

Meet the friendly staff, Ate Mylene and Kuya (I forgot his name) sorry!

Golden fish nuggets seasoned in ground salt and pepper, soaked in beer batter and deep-fried until golden brown

Not familiar with the kind of fish that they serve so this was very useful. I ordered the Full Monty with Garlic Mayo and my all-time fave Calamares.

The Full Monty (Php 280). 4-piece sampler of dory, snapper, cobbler and halibut

Calamares (Php 150)

Served in paper cone
That unplanned visit to CG wiped my stress away. Also gave me an idea on what to eat when I go to London. =)
